This is Celebrated from the tenth day of the bright fortnight of Falguna up to the full moon day. The representative deities Dologobinda, Bhudevi and Sreedevi are taken in a procession to Dolabedi located outside the outer compound wall of the main Temple and special rites are performed.
Lord Jagannath gets worshipped as Dola Govinda or Kriishna during this festival. Being the full-moon or Poornima day, the day also has its place as ‘Basanta Utsav’ or spring festival in Odia almanac. The occasion comes on the full moon day or Poornima and ‘Krishna’ or “Dola Govinda’ becomes the center of attraction with various forms of his worship all-over Odisha.
On the auspicious occasion of Dola Purnima, the four deities inside the sanctum sanctorum of the Sri Mandir will be decked up in Suna Besa seated on the ratna singhasan.
The Raja Dhiraj Besa or suna besa is much loved by the devotees as divine siblings are decked in gold jewelry embellished with diamond and gems taken out from the temple treasury.Lord Jagannatha is worshipped as Dola Govinda during Dola purnima and Lord Govinda with Goddess Sridevi are placed on the dola bedi.
